Maya Risman

Ms. Risman graduated from Boston University in 1994 with a B.A. in International Relations. She received her J.D. from Touro Law School in 1997. She is a member of the New York State Bar, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Risman has been a civil litigator for over 26 years. Ms. Risman has a broad range of experience handling a variety of New York employment law matters, but concentrates her practice in the representation of aggrieved employees in complex employment discrimination claims based on gender, age, race, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, sexual harassment, as well as  retaliation.


Jeffrey Risman

Mr. Risman graduated from Binghamton University in 2003 with a B.S. in Psychobiology. He received his J.D. from New York Law School in 2007. He is a member of the New York State Bar, New Jersey State Bar, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, Eastern District of New York, and Northern District of New York.

Mr. Risman began his career defending large corporations and insurance companies. This wide-ranging experience has provided Mr. Risman with an extensive understanding of management operations, which has proven invaluable in prosecuting claims against employers.

Mr. Risman has had exposure to many aspects of New York employment law – with a concentration in employment discrimination, as well as sexual harassment and retaliation claims. In addition to handling matters concerning employment discrimination, he has successfully negotiated countless severance agreement matters, with only his clients’ interests in mind.  Mr. Risman is also well-versed in restrictive covenant and employment contract litigation.

Mr. Risman is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association.  He is also a faculty member of Lawline, teaching a variety of courses in employment law.


Shannon Barry

Ms. Barry graduated from Duquesne University in 2018 with a B.S. in Finance and International Business. She received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 2021. Prior to joining Risman & Risman, Ms. Barry interned for the EEOC and the Department of Labor, as well as represented unions in ERISA matters.She is a member of the New York State Bar, as well as the Southern District of New York (and the District of Columbia Bar). She is determined to dedicate her career to advocating for workers. Ms. Barry is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association – New York Chapter.
