Our Standard

We are working to make our site conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the widely accepted benchmark for web accessibility. These guidelines cover a broad range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

How We Test

Our testing includes:

Manual review of the page code against WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level A and AA, checking heading structure, landmarks, labels, and keyboard behavior.
An independent automated audit by an outside accessibility scanner, which reports the site as meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA (see results below).
Color contrast measured on the colors actually used on the page, including text placed over photographs.
Keyboard-only use of menus, forms, and interactive elements, confirming that keyboard focus is always visible and never hidden behind other content.
Pages checked at narrow mobile widths equivalent to 400% browser zoom, with nothing cut off and no sideways scrolling.

What We've Done

Some of the accessibility work already in place on this site includes:

A "skip to main content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users
Keyboard-operable navigation menus, including the dropdown and mega-menus in the header
Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images, and labeled form fields on our contact form
A logical heading structure to help screen-reader users navigate each page
Text and background color combinations that meet minimum contrast requirements
Visible focus indicators for anyone navigating the site by keyboard
